Come to our Winter Market on Saturday, December 6, 2025 from 10:00 am -2:00 pm at the Queensborough Community Centre!
The Queensborough Special Programs Committee (QSPC) is a passionate group of volunteers who bring the heart of our neighbourhood to life through fun, inclusive, and family-friendly events.
From seasonal celebrations to cultural gatherings and community festivals, our goal is to create meaningful connections among residents of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. Every event we organize is made possible by the energy, generosity, and creativity of local volunteers like you!
We believe that when we celebrate together, we grow stronger together.
The Queensborough Special Programs Committee (QSPC) has been bringing joy to the neighbourhood for decades. Formed in 1979 by a group of dedicated local parents, seniors, and volunteers, the committee started with a vision: to create fun, inclusive events that would bring the community together across generations and cultures.
What began with small seasonal celebrations at the old Queensborough Community Centre quickly grew into a beloved tradition. The annual Children’s Festival, now one of the largest events in the area, started as a modest gathering with homemade games and community potlucks and continues today with live entertainment, food trucks, and hundreds of attendees.
Over the years, QSPC has added events like the Queensborough Family Christmas Dinner, Queensborough Lighting of the Firehall, Annual Queensborough Children's Festival, and shoreline clean-ups, while always staying rooted in its original goal: to build community spirit and connection through shared experiences.
Run entirely by volunteers, QSPC remains a grassroots organization that reflects the heart and diversity of Queensborough. Every event tells the story of neighbours working together, supporting one another, and creating lasting memories for the next generation.

QB Cafe
The QB Cafe is open during school days from 8am-10am, Monday to Friday (except Tuesdays), with an hour before for prep and organizing. The cafe has proven to be an important benefit to the community, with families, middle school, and elementary children taking advantage of the warm offerings in the morning before school and work. We are incredibly grateful for the work of our volunteers in keeping the community comforted and fed! Funds generated from the cafe directly go back to the QSPC to fund our events.
Are you an avid baker? Volunteering at the QB Cafe is a great way to meet your community members, share your baking talents, and give back to the community. With more volunteers, it may be possible to expand operating hours. If you're interested, please send us an email in the link below!
Volunteer With Us!
We can't run our events alone! We are stronger in numbers. Do you want to give back and have fun doing it? We’re always looking for extra hands to help plan, set up, and run our events. Whether you can give a few hours or take on a larger role, your time makes a big difference. We also offer signatures for students looking to obtain volunteer hours for schooling. Recommendation letters and references also offered for students who have volunteered with us and applying to post secondary institutions.
Please fill out the volunteer registration form in order to be added to our volunteer list!
