Queensborough residents have access to several nearby waste and recycling depots to help keep our community clean and sustainable.
Encorp Return-It Depot - Queensborough Location:
Located at 409 Boyne Street, This depot accepts beverage containers, electronics, small appliances, Styrofoam, cardboard, and glass. It’s a convenient option for refundable items and extended producer responsibility programs.
The facility is located at 995 United Boulevard, Coquitlam, 1km west of the existing Coquitlam Recycling and Waste Centre near the New Westminster and Coquitlam border.
Metro Vancouver’s United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre is a full-service depot for commercial, municipal, and small vehicle customers. The accept the following:
Used automotive oil, antifreeze, and oil containers
Batteries, electronics, and light fixtures
Plastic containers and bags
Books, magazines, and other paper
Clothing and textiles

Cycling & Walking: Queensborough Perimeter Trail connects parks, schools, and residential areas. A cycling map can be viewed here and here.
Q2Q Ferry: A convenient and scenic passenger ferry that connects Queensborough to the Quayside area of Downtown New Westminster. Whether you're commuting, shopping at River Market, or enjoying a day out, the ferry offers a quick and enjoyable ride across the Fraser River (~6 min ride). Queensborough is a pet-friendly neighbourhood with plenty of green space, walking trails, and local services to keep your furry friends happy and healthy.

Pet Licensing & Bylaws

Veterinary Services
Lost and Found Pets
Losing or finding a pet can be stressful, but there are steps you can take to help.
If your pet goes missing in New Westminster, call 604-519-2008 to file a report and check if they’ve been found. Watch the City’s Animal Services Facebook page for found pet updates. You can also post on Pawboost, Missing Pets in BC, Facebook, and Nextdoor.
If you find a stray animal, contact the shelter with a description and location. Dogs and most pets are not allowed to roam freely—cats may roam if spayed/neutered and identifiable. If the animal appears injured, unwell, or lost, please reach out to shelter@newwestcity.ca or call 604-519-2008 for support.
Food Security & Support
Don’t Go Hungry program provides free, fresh, and non-perishable food to individuals and families in need—no questions asked. Open every Saturday at various locations across New Westminster and neighbouring communities, the program welcomes anyone who needs a hand. Whether it’s your first time or a regular visit, you’ll be met with kindness, respect, and support.

Gurdwara Sahib serves free vegetarian hot meals to those in need in New Westminster and the Downtown Eastside. Guests are welcome anytime during the day until 8 pm - 7 days a week. They just ask guests to dress modestly. If it is your first time attending, ask for assistance and they will help guide and serve you.
Places of Worship
Queensborough and nearby areas host a range of spiritual spaces, reflecting the neighbourhood’s rich cultural and religious diversity.
Queensborough is home to a diverse and inclusive faith community. A key landmark is Gurdwara Sahib Sukh Sagar on Wood Street, built in 1919, making it one of B.C.’s oldest Sikh temples. More than just a place of worship, it has long served as a cultural and spiritual hub for South Asian immigrants, symbolizing resilience and community. Visit their website for daily programs, youth programs, and special events.
Also located in Queensborough is the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Originally established in 1943 as a Ukrainian Catholic mission in this neighbourhood, it has served local Catholic families for eight decades. Today, it remains a welcoming space for worship, celebration, and community connection. Mass times can be found here.
